Academic goals, emotions and study strategies

This is a study set out to explore different attitudes of students towards the academic environment. We are interested in the types of achievement goals students set for themselves, the specific emotions they experience during the learning process, and the study strategies they adopt.

This questionnaire will take about 30 minutes to complete. It comprises brief statements about your experience as a student to which you will be able to indicate your agreement or disagreement by choosing from 5 answers varying from strongly agree to strongly disagree. When answering, think about your overall experience at university without focusing on a single subject or class.

I understand that my participation in this study will involve answering questions about academic goals, academic emotions and study strategies. This will require approximately 30 minutes of my time.

I understand that my participation in this study is voluntary and that I can withdraw at any time without giving a reason.

I understand that I am free to ask any questions at any time. I am free to withdraw without providing a reason, or to discuss my concerns with Dr Paul Bishop.

I understand that the information provided by me will be held anonymously so that it is impossible to trace this information back to me individually. Information will be held on a password-protected computer. In accordance with the Data Protection Act this information may be retained indefinitely.

I understand that at the end of the study I will be provided with additional information about the purpose of the study.

I have had the opportunity to discuss with the experimenter any questions or concerns I have about the study at this stage.

I consent to participate in the study conducted by Marina Milosheva in the School of Psychology, University of Aberdeen, under the supervision of Dr Paul Bishop.
