Annual Member's Survey 2022

I am Paul Dargie, and I am a master's student at the University of Aberdeen. The course is called Sustainability Transitions and I have had the opportunity to expand my knowledge in areas such as; energy, governance and sustainability partnerships. As part of the completion of my degree I must undertake a sustainability project. As part of this project, I would like to invite you to participate in a research project which will result in the delivery of the first AREG annual members survey. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes. The closing date for participation is 10th August 2022. Below is some information about the project, to help you decide whether you would like to take part.

Participation in the research project is completely voluntary.  You can withdraw from the project at any time.

Research Aims

The aim of the project is to design and deliver an annual members survey for AREG. The survey aims to report key indicators to illustrate scale, activity and key challenges and opportunities associated with AREG members active or developing interest in renewable energy and the energy transition. The survey will also look to provide new insight into AREG members which include but not limited to: Total numbers of employed as a business unit and numbers employed specifically involved with renewables or Net-Zero, environmental achievements and new technologies being developed. The data will be analysed, and infographics will be generated to illustrate the data.

Data Management

Data will be stored and managed in line with all relevant University policies including the Data Protection Policy, Information Security Policy, and Research Data Management Policy and Guidance. Data collected from the survey will be stored on internal University of Aberdeen servers and will be stored for no longer than two years before being deleted entirely.

Confidentiality and Anonymity

The University’s Privacy Notice for Research Participants is available here
Raw data and the identity of participants will not be released to anyone outside the research team. The data you provide will be analysed and may be used in publications, dissertations, reports, or presentations derived from the research project, but this will be done in such a way that your identity is not disclosed. AREG will publish fully anonymised analysis of the data collected and shared with their members. Every step will be taken to ensure that any data published will not reveal the identity of participants of the survey.
